The Essentials of Adolescent Literacy by Joan Sedita

HELP Book Clubs are underway now. In-service teachers, literacy specialists, and administrators are discussing Joan Sedita’s new book focused on integrating evidence-based reading and writing instruction in Grades 5–12. The groups meet once or twice online or in person, depending on the group’s preference.

This topic is especially timely because Phase 2 of the Minnesota READ Act requires districts and charter schools to provide upper-grade reading teachers and instructional support staff with specialized training in approved evidence-based reading instruction.
